Andy played Puck in our production of “Midsummer” ….and doubled as Starveling, the tailor. He shined as Puck and I think he put as much care into Starveling, the tailor – who had a distinctly Groucho-esque presence. Starveling is the Man in the Moon in the Mechanicals, and last night, here in Switzerland, I was able to see the end of his service. The full moon was shininng bright and I raised a glass of a single malt and smoked a cigar in his memory.
Thank you to the family for posting the celebration of Andy’s life – and Lainie Neiman, when you hosted our company, you made one of the simplest, best roasted chickens I’ve had. Great comfort for another Wandering Jew.
As if anyone needed more evidence of Andy’s kindness and sensitivity, here are some words that we exchanged when I lost my mother two years ago, this month. He lovingly refers to my company nickname “Fumbles”, and the tribute that I wrote for my mother at that time.
