I’ve been reeling these last few weeks since the beautiful memorial. I couldn’t help but think how much he would have loved it, such an epic gathering of people, such a testament to his legacy. Out of pure laziness, I happen to have a dozen phone messages from Andy still in my voicemail. I listened to them and had a good cry. I met Andy during orientation week at Wesleyan and we became fast friends. He was a magical and magnetic person, funny, thoughtful, fearless. He remembered so many of our conversations and would quote back to me things I had said years prior, things I long ago forgot. We hadn’t seen each other in person in many many years and he was planning to come visit LA. I wish I had followed my instinct to send him a plane ticket. Sending love and healing to all his amazing friends and family.
